Programme / Workspace
Dear Attacies!
For the first time Attac is creating a space for sharing knowledge, politics and activism on a European platform. The European Attac Summer University (ESU) is a unique chance to meet up with fellow Attacies from different parts of Europe.
What better way to improve our knowledge of what unites and divides the political development of different Attac countries and regions in Europe?
Here you find the structure of the ESU:

Workshops
You can participate in more than 120 workshops dealing with all the topics important to Attac. They are organised by Attacies from all over Europe.
Get to know each other
We have a special offer at the ESU, where all participants can get to know each other. Every morning we have half an hour after breakfast for this special event. more
The Forums
Speakers from 20 different countries will launch discussions in the 13 forums of the Summer University. These plenary sessions will give participants the opportunity to lean more about and to discuss the key issues of Attac. These are the main topics of the five forum threads:
A) Social Europe
B) Democratising the economy
C) Democratising Europe
D) Ecological Europe
E) Europe in the world
During the ESU the forums will deal with a wide range of issues, varying from questions of ecology, Europe in the world, over trade unions' concerns in the EU, military to migrant themes. Many of the forums will engage in discussions on alternatives. Which economic concept gives power to the people? Is a solidarity economy possible? Could and/or should financial markets be regulated?
One of the most important challenges of the European Summer University is to pave the way for common pan-European Attac campaigns to approach our goal of a different political Europe. The 13 panels enable us to find a common basis and we will all benefit from the exchange of knowledge and political experience.
To adjust our strategies there will be debates on “10 Years of Attac” and “Attac in Europe: How can we put forces together?” in the evening.
Help us to design the programme
We want you to build networks and get acquainted already before the actual event. Therefore we introduced the rule that each workshop should be organized by at least two participants with differing cultural backgrounds. We provide a working platform, so you can establish contact with activists from other countries. Follow this link to enter the so-called "WORKSPACE"
The registration deadline for the workshops was 1st May 2008. If you still want to register for a workshop, please contact our programme coordinator Johanna Schreiber: mail
